July Wedding

I am very happy and proud of this cake. There were a fair few tricky elements but also included my favourite flowers and colours.

Another fab challenge was the beautiful summer weather we had the week leading up to the wedding. During decoration day number one we hit 35 C in my kitchen, and day two had 34 C, until delivery time when it nicely dropped to 26 C or so, but instead offered torrential rain. Considering the more normal summer weather we have here in England, not many kitchens, or houses for that matter, are equipped with necessary solutions to stay comfortable shall we say, so to make a three tiered cake was indeed challenging - to say the least.

Here is the outcome!

Bottom Tier

Vanilla sponge, Vanilla buttercream and strawberry jam

Middle Tier

Lemon Sponge, Vanilla buttercream and lemon curd

Top Tier

Chocolate Sponge, Nutella buttercream

Covered in rolling icing, decorated with lace, pearls and sugar roses and sweet peas
