Christmas Update - not including anything about Christmas!

I am so much in the Christmas spirit at the moment! The tree is up, the mulled wine is warm and one Christmas song after the other goes in and out of my head. That was why it was so refreshing to make a cake for a raffle which had nothing to do with Christmas!

Victoria Sponge, Buttercream and Passion Fruit Jam. Topped with sweets in all its varieties!

A month ago I also got to make another one of those amazing anniversary cakes! 50 years of marriage, a Gold Weeding, - it never stops amazing me!

And just as a preparation for when the time hits us when Christmas Cake, sweets, chocolate and roast dinners are just too much to even consider - I want to strike a blow for the Swedish Sandwish Cake. A savoury creation that really can be decorated with anything. Fillings are generally a mayonnaise prawn and pickles gherkin magical mix but can of course be tailored to taste. Decorated with cold cut meat, or seafood, egg, salmon - you choose. The possibilities are endless! Perfect for the party, or for the days when left over turkey is just not what you fancy.
